Check out some of the fun Summerville events in December.

Crystal & Gem Show - December 5th, 9am

Come find a wide variety of Crystals, find Reiki charged candles, crystal stone jewelry, sage, incense, wooden boxes, and Bohemian style clothing. And we heard there will be lots of specials. Stop by at Artesian Springs Day Spa, 505 N. Hickory Street, Summerville, SC

PJ’s with Santa – December 5th, 5:30 – 8pm

Jolly Old Saint Nicholas will be on Hutchinson Square for the annual PJ’s with Santa. While children have the opportunity to whisper their wishes to Santa, parents capture the moment with their cameras. There will be a viewing of the Polar Express! Tickets are $5.00 which will support Junior Service League’s School Supply Fund for DD2 & DD4.

Christmas on the Square – December 6th – 18th

Civic Groups, schools, businesses and individuals will place Christmas displays on Hutchinson Square. Meanwhile, Flowertown Realty and Live Love Summerville have something special in store for you. Come check out the creativity and vote for your favorite display. You can vote for just .25 cents each at the following locations: Guerin’s Pharmacy, Cuppa Manna Cafe, Simple Treasures, or Wine & Tapas Bar. The money collected will support the Junior Service League’s School Supply Fund for DD2 & DD4.

Sweet Dreams PJ's and a Book – December 7th, 8am – 5pm

Homestead Hospice & Palliative Care created "Sweet Dreams" to provide comfort for children in Women's Shelters. They want to provide infants & children through the age of 12 with a new pair of pajamas and a book. There will be a drive-by collection box outside the Homestead Office at 133 East 1st N. St. Suite 9, Summerville.

Homestead Stock a Pantry – December 7th, 8am – 5pm

During these difficult times, Homestead Hospice and Palliative Care will be collecting canned and non-perishable food for the Low Country Food Bank to assist in feeding the homeless.

This will be non-contact drive-thru collection box in front of the Homestead office at 133 East 1st Main St Suite 9 in downtown Summerville.

Notes of Hope – December 7th, 8am – 5pm

Homestead Palliative Care is collecting items to package and distribute to cancer patients while they are receiving their chemo treatments at the infusion centers. They are collecting donations of new word search, crossword puzzles, sudoku and adult coloring books. Handwritten notes will hopefully provide comfort and hope. The new donated items will be packaged with water bottles and lip balm and delivered to our local cancer infusion centers.

A drive by collection box for these donated items will be located outside Homestead office 133 East 1st St. Suite 9 in downtown Summerville.

#SOfestive 2020 presented by the Summerville Orchestra - December 11th, 7pm – 8:30pm

Coastal Coffee Roasters will be hosting 3 ensembles for the evening's entertainment, a string quartet, flute quartet and brass quintet.

  • Performance is FREE
  • Seating is limited.
  • Reservations are not available.  This will be first come, first get the chair.
  • Face masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged.
  • Of course, Beverages and treats will be available for purchase at the cafe.
  • There will be some outside seating available so bring a chair!

Golf Cart Parade – December 11th, 5pm – 8pm

The annual “Deck the Halls” golf cart parade and tree lighting festival at Nexton is such fun. Have a golf cart? Trick it out and enter the parade. The lighted golf carts will make their way down Brighton Park Blvd and around Nexton Square. Or just hang out and enjoy the show, which will include a tree lighting ceremony, live music, and a holiday photo booth.

The Ugly Sweater 5K Dash – December 12

Grab your ugly sweaters and join the holiday fun! Registration is OPEN for The The ARK Of SC Ugly Sweater 5K Dash. The race is set for Saturday, December 12th in Downtown Summerville. The ARK provides comprehensive support services to families living with Alzheimer’s or related dementia. This race includes a 5K run/walk and 1-mile stroll – both races begin and end at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 206 Central Avenue in Summerville. The 5K begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 1-mile stroll kicks off at 9:45 a.m.

Gingerbread & Tea – December 12th, 2pm – 4pm

Gingerbread and Tea will be a fun afternoon for the family hosted by Lowcountry Conference Center Summerville Hilton. Decorate a gingerbread house then visit Santa. Tickets are $60 each which includes entry for 3 guests and one ready to decorate a gingerbread house. There will be endless hot chocolate, cookies for the kids, and a High Tea station for the adults. Everyone will have their own socially distanced table to decorate their gingerbread house and to enjoy the afternoon.

Family Yuletide in the Stable yards at Middleton Plantation – December 12th , 5:30 – 8pm

Middleton Plantation will have fresh greenery, berries, and other items to make natural holiday decor.  You will want to arrive early because supplies may be limited.  Craftspeople ply their trades and interact with visitors in the stable yard artisan shops which will be lit by candlelight. Seasonal refreshments will be provided. The evening will include crafts for children, a living nativity, storytelling by Father Christmas, and carolers.

Summerville Christmas Parade – December 13th, 2pm

Summerville's Christmas parade is scheduled for Dec 13 at 2pm with a rain date of Dec 20th. The theme this year is "Snow Globe". The parade is a family-friendly event that aims to bring the community together and celebrate the season, all while representing the local traditions and Summerville hospitality.  This traditional Summerville Event is so much fun and we can't wait to see Santa!  Last year our favorite displays were the rodeo and the balloons because who doesn't love balloons?!

 

Main Street Reads FREE Acting Lessons for Living Virtual Workshop – December 15th, 7pm - 8pm

Main Street Reads is pleased to invite you to a free “Acting Lessons for Living” workshop with best selling author, Ruthie Landis, on Tuesday, December 15th!  Ruthie weaves her decades of experience in the theatre and as a psychotherapist, teacher and coach, with insightful personality concepts found in the Enneagram used by actors and successful “players” the world over, to guide you through your own hero’s journey – your life’s calling.  Don't worry because time will be allowed after the talk for Q&A.  This special event is just in time for the holidays.  Perhaps, it can help you with perspective before you begin setting those New Year’s goals.  Click the link for more info.

Main Street Reads Book Signing with Ruthie Landis – December 19th, 10:30am - 12Noon

Join Main Street Reads for a book signing with best selling author, Ruthie Landis.  Whether you’re in “pre-production” or wanting to make sure your final bow will invite a standing ovation, Acting Lessons for Living will engage you, change you, and support you in playing the scenes of your own life with crystal clear intention, full presence, and a finale that will knock your socks off.

Summerville Skates – December through Mid-January

Summerville Dream brings a temporary ice rink to downtown Summerville which offers a special opportunity for a memorable Christmas experience.  It runs through mid-January and feels like a Hallmark movie set.  Get your Summerville Skates tickets early because you won't want to miss it!
