Scarecrows on the Square in Summerville

by Susan Gardner

Scarecrows on the Square is put on by the Junior Service League of Summerville every year.  If you haven't seen Hutchinson Square this week, the scarecrows have been up since October 13th.  Businesses, civic groups, schools and individuals all contribute.  They'll be on display this year until Friday, October 24th so be sure to come down to Hutchinson Square and have some fun.

Voting for your Favorite Display

You can vote for your favorite scarecrow at Cuppa Manna, Guerin's Pharmacy and Simple Treasures.  Votes are $0.25 each and proceeds support the Junior Service League of Summerville's School Supply Fund for Dorchester School Districts 2 and 4.   Vote for our display, Flowertown Realty.  It's a good choice!  Besides, everyone love's flipping houses!  Even those who aren't very good at it.

Enjoying the Square

Hutchinson Square is a happening place.  There is always something going on.  In addition to the scarecrows, many of the local shops have live music throughout the week including The Ice House, Homegrown Brewhouse and Montreaux.  A pumpkin spice latte from Cuppa Manna is always a treat.   I'd also suggest Eva's for breakfast, Eclectic Chef for lunch or Shuckin' Shack for dinner.  They are all good options for dining.
